Pop-Up Mobile Food Pantries

MMSD, in partnership with Second Harvest Foodbank of Southern Wisconsin, is proud to offer a number of school-based food pantries and markets for MMSD families and in the case of the drive through distributions - the entire community.

 

MMSD School Market Distribution Schedule

  • East High School - Indoor School Market only - Culinary arts collaboration with indoor market available to East HS students/families during school hours.
  • Hawthorne Elementary - Indoor School Market only - Open to Hawthorne families Monday-Friday from 8:30-2:00 and by appointment.
  • Henderson Elementary - Indoor/Outdoor School Market - Drive through distribution available to anyone in the community first and third Wednesday of the month from 1:00-2:00, indoor market available to Henderson families by appointment.
  • Huegel Elementary - Outdoor School Market only, drive through distribution available to anyone in the community every Thursday starting at 2:00.
  • Lake View Community School -Indoor Market at Sherman Church (3705 N. Sherman Ave. Madison) on the third Monday of the month from 3:45-5:45pm. Available to Lake View families and the community. First come, first served. No IDs required, but must give first and last name and date of birth of everyone in the household. Contact rdeterding@madison.k12.wi.us or 608-576-5004 with questions.
  • Leopold Elementary - Indoor/Outdoor School Market - Drive through distribution available to anyone in the community every other Tuesday (starting 09/19) of the month starting at 11:00, indoor market available to Leopold families by appointment.
  • Lincoln Elementary - Outdoor School Market only, drive through distribution available to anyone in the community first and third Monday of the month from 11:00-12:00.
  • Memorial High School - Indoor School Market only - Culinary arts collaboration with indoor market available to Memorial HS students/families during school hours.
  • Mendota Elementary - Indoor School Market only - Available to Mendota families during school hours.
  • Nuestro Mundo School - Indoor School Market only - Available to Nuestro Mundo families during school hours.
  • Sandburg Elementary - Indoor School Market only - Available to Sandburg families during school hours.
  • Thoreau Elementary - Specialized delivery program to 15 families in collaboration with the school social worker.
  • Whitehorse Middle School - Outdoor School Market only, drive through distribution available to anyone in the community third Monday of the month from 3:30-6:00.

Rimrock Road mobile distribution - Outdoor drive through/walk-up distribution open to anyone in the community the second and fourth Thursdays of the month. The distribution has three stops and no form of identification is required:

  • Highland Manor Park Storm Shelter 10:30 - 11:00
  • 7 Oaks Apartments 11:30 - 12:00
  • Southdale Park - 12:30 - 1:30

District-wide program - Emergency food bag program for MMSD students and MMSD families experiencing homelessness or a crisis. The families are referred to the program by MMSD school social workers.

Some quick facts about these sites

  • The drive through food distribution will typically have boxes of produce, freezer, dairy, and shelf stable dry goods. These will vary from site to site, and week to week.

  • Stay in your car, food will be loaded into your trunk

  • Proxy shoppers are allowed

  • No ID required

  • MMSD school pantry sites will be closed during school holidays and breaks.
